Emily has been a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor since 1992. She has more than 16 years experience and training in managing care and return to work for employees with occupational injuries. During this time, has managed every facet of the worker’s rehab process from the onset of injury to ultimately returning them to their lives and their jobs.
Emily directs all the components of a worker’s treatment and recovery. She focuses attention on aligning quality, efficient and timely services to support the worker’s specific needs. She has an excellent relationship with prominent occupational, rehabilitation and specialist physicians which is necessary to access and deliver medical care. She utilizes cost efficient vendors to coordinate diagnostics, obtain supplies and durable medical equipment. She renders opinions to carriers regarding cost of treatment, likely outcomes, identifies concerns and makes recommendations. She conducts on-site job analysis allowing providers to set safe and effective rehabilitation and return to work goals. Early in the rehabilitation process, she develops a return to work plan with the worker, the medical providers and the employer. This reduces the need for work conditioning/ hardening and minimizes costs associated with lost time. She improves employee compliance by addressing their psychosocial and emotional needs during treatment and recovery.
Emily has been recognized within private disability management by piloting a national cutting edge return to work program and implementing it within east Texas industries. This has significantly reduced lost time for employers and allowed employees to maintain employment. This strategy alleviates some of the financial burden associated with injury for both employee and employer. Emily is an advocate who believes treating workers with respect and coordinating appropriate, timely and excellent medical care ultimately produces positive outcomes. Educationally, she obtained her masters in rehabilitation counseling, she holds a bachelors in Advertising/Public Relations and an associates in Interpreting for the Deaf. She is registered by the Yoga Alliance as a yoga teacher and is a certified yoga therapist. Her training in body mind therapies aids in her effectiveness in working with those experiencing pain and trauma.
